Enterprise Emergency Roll Call for Employee Accountability

PingIn Enterprise helps authorized staff account for employees after an emergency or during a drill. It captures a fixed snapshot of who PingIn believed was present, then clearly shows who has been accounted for and who remains unaccounted for.

How PingIn Emergency Roll Call works

  1. Employees use normal PingIn check-in and check-out.
  2. An emergency or drill occurs, following the organization's emergency procedure.
  3. Authorized Enterprise staff start Emergency Roll Call.
  4. PingIn snapshots everyone it believes was present at that moment. The roster stays fixed afterward.
  5. At the assembly area, staff account for employees by badge/identifier scan or manual confirmation.
  6. PingIn prominently shows the people who remain unaccounted for.
  7. An authorized operator closes the event, which remains available in history.

Multiple authenticated administrative devices can work on the same event. They are not separately licensed kiosks, and normal attendance activity does not change the emergency roster.

What PingIn does support

Daily kiosk presence

Employees check in and out in a browser kiosk. Administrators can see who is currently IN based on the latest attendance event.

Attendance history

Timestamped check-in and checkout events provide the presence data used when an Enterprise roll call begins. Completed Emergency Roll Calls are retained separately in history.

Identifier lookup

PingIn accepts the value sent by a keyboard-style barcode scanner, supported camera barcode formats, or a person typing an identifier into the kiosk field.

Preparation support

Emergency Roll Call supports employee accountability, but it does not replace assembly points, wardens, emergency responders, the site's plan, or offline fallbacks.

Hardware and identifier requirements

For the current check-in product, use a browser-capable computer or tablet plus an identifier that maps to an employee record. The practical options are:

See the employee check-in hardware guidance before purchasing equipment.

OSHA language, stated carefully

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.38 says an applicable emergency action plan must include procedures to account for all employees after evacuation. That requirement applies to the employer's plan; it does not make PingIn compliant software. Read the OSHA standard and the OSHA evacuation guidance, then have your safety team determine what your site requires.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does PingIn include digital emergency mustering?

Enterprise includes Emergency Roll Call. Authorized staff start an Emergency or Drill event, PingIn snapshots employees believed present, and operators account for those employees by identifier scan or manual confirmation. The unaccounted-for list remains visible until the authorized operator closes the event.

What can PingIn support today?

PingIn supports browser-based employee check-in and check-out, a live view of employees whose latest event is IN, timestamped attendance history, and identifier lookup from a keyboard-style scanner, camera barcode scan, or typed entry.

What hardware or badges do we need?

Use a browser-capable computer or tablet and an identifier that produces a value PingIn can match to an employee. A Wasp keyboard-style barcode scanner has been tested on Windows and Linux, and camera scanning has been tested on iPad Safari. USB scanners on iPad, Bluetooth scanners, Android tablets, RFID/NFC readers, and fingerprint readers are not verified as supported by the current test record.

Is emergency mustering included in Enterprise?

Yes. Emergency Roll Call is included in Enterprise. It is limited to employees in the start-time snapshot; visitor/contractor mustering, multiple muster points, offline operation, emergency detection, and mass notification are not part of this release.

Does PingIn make an organization OSHA compliant?

No. PingIn is not OSHA-compliant software and does not guarantee regulatory compliance. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.38 requires applicable emergency action plans to include procedures for accounting for employees after evacuation; each organization remains responsible for its plan, procedures, training, and regulatory decisions.
